Printer "now processing" halfway through prints! Frustrating!!

I recently ran an update in my versaworks 6.22.1 and moved my computer to the other side of the room so I unplugged the either net cable and replugged it in. (doubt that has anything to do with it)
But now my printer stops half way through prints and just reads "Now Processing", anyone have this happen to them? Printer is a Roland SG540

Was happening to me on an old sp-540v. A number of things were kind of on the out for me with that thing, I ended up selling it for parts.

Anyhow from research a few things came up
- check your cat5 cable, or try with another
- it's possible your NIC (network card) on the printer is bad or going bad? (this one is a bit harder to troubleshoot for sure)
- anti-virus on your computer is blocking continued connection somehow.

If you are all caught up on printing and cutting deleat ALL print and cut files then restart computers, printers and cutters.

I appreciate the replies, I've been out for a couple days I'm going to delete all now and restart everything!

Could this be to do with your network settings? Might be worth making sure the printer is set to a static IP address instead of dynamic?

Only solution I've found is revert back to 6.18, the current and prior updates are an absolute disaster. I run two VS-300i's off a VersaWorks 6 install on a fairly grunty Server 2016, as soon as I start printing and ripping for both printers both printing and ripping starts failing, Afterwards there are what appear to be orphan processes still showing in task manager. The stalled rips and prints can't be deleted from the queues until Versaworks 6 is shut down, the processes killed and VersaWorks restarted.

Right now I've got a virtual Windows 10 install with VersaWorks 6.18 running both VSi's on a lesser sped'ed host platform and VersaWorks is happily ripping and printing without missing a beat.

How do you revert back to VW 6.18?

Microsuck again? Maybe.
shut everything off, pc, printer, all network routers, hubs, switch, etc.
wait 15 minutes.
get the pc up.
get the network stuff back on, WAIT an hour.
turn on devices.
wait an hour.
now…..

Not sure if this solution is too easy but it may help someone. Make sure your printer is set as a static DHCP in your router settings.

Could be a problem with the main board. Many including myself have had this problem with Roland VP and SP printers. I have not heard of this issue with the newer Rolands but the only solution for me was having my main board rebuilt. I have heard that cleaning the encoder strip could help as well.

we have often discussed this being a problem with intermittents on the main board with a number of symptoms

BEFORE YOU CONDEMN THE MAIN BOARD, go to device manager on the pc, go to your network interface (ethernet or wireless) [i have always said, NEVER PRINT with a wireless connection, but that is a different story]
go to properties on your network card choose the power management tab and be sure EVERYTHING IS UNCHECKED. no more allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. also search "edit power plan" and be sure
put computer to sleep or hibernation is set VERY LONG (i prefer never).
THE OPERATING SYSTEMS ARE NOT SMART ENOUGH TO SEE RESOURCES ARE IN USE.

if this is not the case, find a GOOD LAPTOP REFURBISHER who has a "re-flow or rework oven" who can take your system board and explain your problem.
tell me roland has a reputation for thermal intermittent problems and he will carefully heat the board, to reflow solder connections

an experienced company can do this properly (it had to be done to MILLIONS of laptop mother bioards with NVIDIA chips 10-15 years ago

in a recent thread by adam edge we discuss this (we beat a dead horse actually, i hope adam's problem has been successfully resolved) issue with roland boards going intermittent

ONE ADDITIONAL THOUGHT. you may want to add a fan or two, allowing airflow above & below (if practical) the system board

as the system board heats up, it twists and flexes (the trigger event for your problem, most likely) to be sure, there is no down side to adding fans

The only thing is that Flexsign Rip works perfectly. I do like Versaworks but am thinking of just concentrating on the FlexiRip as I'm tired of wasting $ on material and ink when it quits halfway.

Do you have one of those firewalls where the app has to listed as “safe”. ?

we stopped using mcaffee in 1993 when it would decide in the midfle of a print job that it was an unacceptable risk.

flexi uses port 9100 i believe (standard printing port)
not sure what versworks uses
