Printing Decals with certain opacity

How can you print with 50% opacity in such a way that the media on which you are printing is also partially visible.

Like in this decal, the holographic effect is visible even after printing the design on it. So we are trying to print some color graphics on a holographic film but want even the holographic effect to be visible.

How do we achieve this with a eco solvent or a latex printer?

ps : we partially removed the printed stuff using alcohol to show the holographic film beneath.

You just print on it, same as you would a white vinyl. The standard "white point" of the vinyl is now the base color of the vinyl you are printing on. You are only applying CMYK inks, so anywhere you are not putting ink, is showing the vinyl.

A lot of films like these are probably not printable, so you might have to print onto a clear vinyl, then laminate your print with standard laminate, then laminate that combo onto your new "base" material.

What jfiscus said.... To go further, no idea on latex inks but on solvent and ecosolvent inks they are by nature transparent. So for example if you print on clear vinyl, you can see right through the printed areas.
