Printing directly to the HP L265 from a computer - Hookup suggestions?

Currently we connect to the printer over the network router. However, our modem and router are one in the same, and if we have a modem issue while printing we can lose the data feed to the printer.

Whats the best way to connect the printer directly to the computer, so I can rip faster and not worry about data loos or a break in connection?

A separate router that only runs by the RIP station so I can have an online connection and a link to the printer?

Would a print server work?

Keep in mind this system also needs to maintain an internet connection as well.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do what I did. Install a second NIC and run it direct. Haven't had a RIP hiccup since.

Use a network switch to connect all your equipment. Use a router as connection between the network switch and your ISP. It would be alright to let the router assign IP addresses if you want, but don't let it assign printer addresses. Assign those manually. You might also want to disable IPv6 as I always found that problematic when sending large amounts of data to printers.

Not sure if you are doing this already but you want to reserve (with the router) the IP address of your RIP and printer. You might be able to get away without using a switch by reserving these IP addresses with the router. It would be worth a try if you don't have a lot of network traffic.
