printing extra black, makes shadow

My Mutoh Falcon Outdoor Jr, is printing extra black/light gray which gives a shadow affect on black text. Is this a head alignment problem? or something else?

Directly to the top of the black.

Sounds like mechanical alignment.

Timing alignment should be left or right.

Static/head issues could be every direction or head height.

You need to print a "nozzle check" from your service menu on the printer, and then adjust head alignment until your nozzle check looks good.

You will need a Service Manual and some patience or luck.
There is a ratchet type system, where you loosen the set screw and raise or lower the ratchet wedge.

Thank you everyone for the help, we adjusted the set screw and got the alignment back. Now I can just do small adjustments with the head alignment with the 3 patterns.
