I dont know if this is in the right section or not, but trying to get a quick answer on this before we order more product. Normally we us 180CV3 with our Roland VP-540, but our supplier has a special on the 170cv3 which I am unfamiliar with. On 3M's website the only difference I could find is on the 170 it says "for piezo inkjet only" and 180 says "solvent/uv only". Am I correct that the vp-540 uses solvent ink, making the 170 film unusable to us? Thanks!!

You're correct. Piezo is water based and requires a specially treated surface.

IJ170 and 180 are the same film. The adhesive is different.

talked to grimco today and they say the only difference is 170 does not have controltac. Only comply(air release)
