Printing not straight

Does the Xj740 have an encoder strip and will this cause it to not print straight. I was printing a banner and had an outline around it and noticed that the print was not printing straight. The media was loaded correctly

Sounds like a dirty encoder strip. Clean it and the sensor with a gentle cleaning agent, and see if that does not clear things right up.

correct. clean the strip and sensor. you will be good to go.

Make sure you turn off the unit and unplug it before doing any work.

For goodness sakes, use rubbing alcohol and not denatured... and certainly don't use cleaning solvent.
