Need Help Printing on Painted Plywood with Q Series CET

We typically buy pre-painted ply wood boards and print on them with our CET, never had any issues with those. Recently, in a pinch, we decided to buy blank boards and paint them ourselves. The print quality looked very washed out and light compared to the boards that are pre-painted. We used a foam roller to paint it so there is a bit of texture on the board. If anyone has dealt with an issue like this please let us know what you did to fix it!
