hi guys im currently using my sc500 with the old lpt port parallel cable to an old xp laptop using flexi 8.6.

now this laptop is old and slow and i would like to use the printer with my newer laptop.

i bought a parallel to usb cable to connect everything up but for some reason i cant get it to work.

new laptop is running windows 10 pro.

the cable adapter i bought was from ebay.

would anyone have any suggestions as to how i would get it to work.

do i need an sc500 driver?

also when i send the file to print in flexi it will rip and go to print and wake the printer up but thats it.

hope someone can help.

cheers

Ken

Try selecting one of the COM ports instead of USB or LPT. For some reason that has worked for me. Can't tell you why though.

Thanks for your help but I don't seem to have any com port. Only lpt 1-3, usb_printer_0, tcp/ip, lpr, ftp and file.

The fact that usb_printer_0 shows up means that either you have another printer hooked up to the computer or it is seeing the SC500. What does the screen say when it wakes up?

No other printer attached just the the SC500. When it wakes up the screen just says "now waking up" and afterwards it's just says what print setting it's on and the length of the media.

I'm willing to bet it's the cable. Even though they all seem the same, not all brands work with these machines for some reason. I have used the Belkin brand before with this exact setup and it worked. Maybe someone else has an idea. As far as I know, there really isn't a specific driver for that machine. I

Would you have an exact name of the Belkin cable you used??
