Problem with SC 545 EX Cutting

Got a buddy that has an alignment issue when cutting. His contour starts off fine but as it progresses to the opposite side of the printer, the cut will go into the letters. His tech came out to fix the alignment issue but is running into a brick wall. One side of the printer is adjusted to be perfect and the opposite side skews. He would then adjust the left side where the alignment is perfect but gets worse going the other direction. Anyone ever experienced this problem?

We have this problem with our SC-545ex as well. The left half of a 54" roll is off when die cutting. If we run on 30" there is no problem. Please let me know if the tech finds a solution.

Our SP540 is off too when cutting laminated prints. Print/Cut the thing can do a couple hundred decals perfectly. Had one if the best techs in the business check it out. Said it was freakishly accurate. But again when in service mode it is a Print/Cut routine. Not print, lam, re-install, then cut.

One thing I've started doing is accurately measuring the vertical distance of the crop marks. Most of the time they are perfect while others have had as much as 4mm variation. Odd thing was when I skewed the vinyl that exact amount the cut came out really nice.
Regarding the width variation I have no clue why as it doesn't happen with any regularity.

Read you manual. Find tracking accuracy spec. Do the math. Then sit there with you jaw hanging wondering how you ever turned out salable product.
What it boils down to is the machines have atrocious specs for any kind of distance.

I love my Roland, but it's time to get a Summa cutter.
