I have an opportunity to look at buying this machine, I have not looked at it in person but the shop says it is in working condition and is still being used until new equipment comes in and can be inspected anytime

How much would a fully working be worth.. I am not finding much info on that..

Oh.. and I am not sure if it had the take up reel or not..

thanks

No idea what it should cost, but if you're looking for intel on the unit itself I have tons. One thing I'd definitely recommend is asking about is whether it has the short or tall dampers. If it's the short dampers I'd have him run a 6x10 red or purple banner at the resolution/pass count you'd be using most. I know mine has a really rough time keeping up with supply/demand and it results in a lot of banding when the mag drops out.

No longer supported...

One thing to keep in mind that the SJ-745EX entered end-of-support status at Roland as of January 2014.

This means that they not only unable to provide tech support for this model, but are also unable to guarantee parts availability. A great example is the unit that need a replacement heater controller that is no longer available. Just happened today.

A lot of the parts are common and are still available, but many are not. Just something to consider...

I have a 745 and a 645. I love these machines. They Must have the tall dampers for sure. It took me years to figure that one out.

All the parts are available from third party suppliers if you know where to look. Fuji still makes the heat controller. It's about $225.00. roland wanted to sell me one for $1,200.

I will run these two machines into the ground. They are very cheap to run on bulk inks, and parts are still around. A new machine is in my future, but it will be added to the stable of printers I have.

Are able to just swap dampers (small to big) or is there a big process with it... Never done that before or thought too ( I have installed new heads, cables, dampers... etc before, just not different size dampers)

I was told that upgrading to the larger dampers was not possible, but to be honest I don't have any faith in what Roland or my local rep tells me on these sorts of things. I know both of my printers have the short dampers, but it's only a problem on the 745; presumably the increased surface area it prints per pass.
