We have been shipping large format signs via UPS ground and freight for 10+ years (PVC, diBond, and acrylic). We've always used some sort of plastic sheeting to protect the sign faces in transit. For the longest we wrapped our signs in poly sheeting that painters use for ground cover. This was very time consuming. We recently discovered a low tac blue film from ABI Tapes (https://www.abitape.com/product/protectrite-8510-3/) that works great and cuts down on time, but it we've only been able to find one supplier out of Michigan and the lead time for the product is always 2+ weeks. The product is also significantly more expensive than using standard poly sheet.
We're curious if there are other solutions out there that sign shops are using to protect their product during transit. Any insight would be much appreciated.
