Man, the amount of collective knowledge you have might be worth at least the time and effort to make a series of how-to videos or podcasts. That right there would be about 6 months worth of planning and doing right there. As for the design work ... why not give crowdspring and other freelancing sites a try ... might be worth at messing with.

could even throw in a little gutair lick here and there

Don't be "out to pasture".
Be out to 'stud'.

Teach.
Pass on your talents to the next generation.
Give back what you have learned to those, perhaps, less fortunate.

Whether one is retired or not, physical exercise is pretty important for keeping the blues at bay. It doesn't need to be anything grueling, and should be enjoyable, but it ought to contain at least 30 minutes of a sustained elevated heart rate (cardio). That, and a few interests/hobbies otta do; oh, and reading books that interest you is also good.
