PVC Glue ups

I'm layering 3 small sheets ( 12"x18" ) of 1/2" pvc for a 1.5" thick letter. This sounds like an obvious duh, but I gotta ask to confirm...

Can I use PVC pipe cement to join the layered pvc?

If it would react the same, it would exceed any other adhesive because the pvc pipe cement chemically melts the pvc together. IF this is a no, anyone have any other suggestions...?

The only reason I'm using pvc is because it's left over from a job and its free. This will be finished up with adhesive prime and paint.

Yes that would work. But you will need to work hard to clean up the edge seams of your letter if you want a clean smoothed seamless look.
