question about sign gold & thermal

Does the 22 karat sign gold look identical to the thermal sign gold? Here is why I'm asking. A customer of mine is telling me that the vinyl on his truck is the real stuff. When i hold my real sign gold up to it, it doesn't match. His looks like the imitation stuff. Then i was thinking maybe the thermal stuff looks more like the fake stuff and maybe he has thermal?

Looks almost the same, but slight difference because it doesn't have the clear tedlar laminate(I think that's what they use). Sounds like they have one of the imitation brands, like Coburn. Which isn't bad, just not the same.

Yup there is very little difference in appearance between types.
