Quote Request! Large Banners

I'm looking at options to have some large banners printed. These do not need hems, do not need any finishing other than cut to size.

These will be for a scoreboard for a major league baseball team. The last time they had them done (last year about January) they were unhappy with a couple things. #1: 2 of the larger pieces were seamed. They do not want to see seams, as those are backlit. #2: The material the last company used has turned brown. As in very brown, in under one year. This is not a problem the stadium has had in the past, so it must have something to do with material. If you cannot warranty your material for one year, please let me know (and the reason why) when submitting the quote. These will be installed in stretch frames, so quote an appropriate material!

Here's what I need (all sizes are approximate at this time):

4 backlit panels 16.2'w x 8.9'h
2 backlit panels 14.3'w x 13.1'h
2 frontlit panels 16.1'w x 4.0'h
1 frontlit panel 19.2'w x 4.8'h

In the alternative, I do have access to an HP Scitex XL1500 5 meter. If you'd like to quote me for material only, I'd appreciate that as well.

Thanks!

Seeing you know someone with a 5 meter printer that you can use, why not just buy the material yourself and print them yourself and save on all the hassles?

sounds like you should pass.

first off, these are not banners, they are flex face signs. what's the difference you ask? last time someone used banners and it didn't quite work out.

sounds like this is a little outta your league.

You're correct. The material recommended by the manufacturer of the scoreboard is Ultralon, a 20oz material. Clearly, the 13oz chinese **** the last company used isn't appropriate.

I KNOW what I need. If you want to print it, you can make some money. If you can't print it, why are you here? I'm not seeking advice on what to use. I keep forgetting that a lot of you guys/gals aren't interested in making money. Those who are will give me a quote.

Not out of my league. That's almost laughable. I have a Super Bowl and several seasons of NASCAR under my belt. Sorry for looking to support some of the wholesale guys here.

There are reasons.

I guess that's the way I'll do it though. I was just trying to support the community a little. Guess that was a mistake.

i would guess the reason your getting jerked around is because you should just have looked up the merchants and gave them a call. you don't quite sound like a guy who has superbowls and NASCAR under his belt. you look like a guy who doesn't know what to ask for. especially when you say you know a guy....

Georgia Printco does a wonderful job, if you want a good source, inexpensive, good quality. IF none of the merchants on here want the work ...

sounds like you know exactly what you need :ROFLMAO:

Wow.

That's what you got out of that? Talk about insecurity in your own business, that's the only explanation.

I suppose I could have said "They turned brown because the last company was a bunch of cheap asses who bought bottom of the barrel ****.". I didn't, because I was trying to be tactful.

Apparently the jackasses beat them here. I shouldn't be surprised. I've been here long enough that I should have known that's what would happen.

Oh well. I just ordered 2 rolls of material and I'll have it done by the people I normally do.

While I'm at it, anyone have any suggestions for a forum that actually has people interested in business?

:ROFLMAO: Haha.... why not ?? Everyone else does.

Some days one can ask for the moon here and all will drop to their knees and try to help, while on a bad day....Non si può cavar sangue da una rapa.

My guess would be, ask for what you need, be as specific as possible and hope for the best.

A good example of what's taking place here is simply this..... you asked for certain parameters about your project and you weren't very clear. Now, you know what that got your customer last year.... crappola. So, in order to not repeat what your customer did, these people are trying to find out if you need correcting or not... so they can point you in the right direction. You cop an attitude and then the lynching begins.

Anyway, I hope you get what you need and can satisfy your customer this year.

Merry Christmas.........

Actually, the ultralon is NOT banner material. Although it looks like it, it's not! And, it's not going to be as cheap to make as banner either. Backlit material, backlit printing, two different animals than down and dirty banner work.

How much of a rose do you want to smell like? You could double strike these and get away with it, or do it right and print/white/print them.

And quite honestly, any shop that knows what they are doing could print them on 10' goods and weld them, and the seam would be a total non issue.

Give bill at Wyld grand a call, he prints a lot of large backlits, properly, too.

if your feelings are going to get hurt that easily, they maybe next time ask a little more intelligently.

like:

hey, i got a job for the back of a baseball scoreboard. i'm not quite sure what i'm looking for. can anyone point me in the direction of a company that can print large, unseamed backlit banners?

thanks

superbowl-nascar guy...

just sayin....

The people who did this last year are members of this forum, I'm pretty sure, which is why I tried to be tactful and was also a little unspecific in my description.

i figured I could hash out the details if I received any quotes and I would also know right off the bat if the "quoter" knew what they were doing based on the substrate quoted. I do sometimes like to play some of my cards close to my chest, especially on an open forum.
