Raster VS Vector Sign for the Shop

our sales staff is pretty good about asking for artwork and the formats, but sometimes people think that just by inserting low-res .jpeg's into .ai/.pdf/.eps files means they're "production quality"...
in which case, i always add "zoom-in" photos of artwork provided by clients to our drawings to reflect how their shotty low-res jpegs will print scaled-up.

easier to explain why we either need better artwork from their end, or why we need to bill them for extra design time to reproduce:

also added: Colin, GREAT examples! Going to make my own, but use yours as a basis for what I want my final prints to be like.
Cheers!

I'm surprised at just how often even some big companies can't provide the proper artwork, and just have a tiny GIF file.

Ok, so here is what I have come up with so far. I am going to put something in the background, I am just not sure what yet. I used some of the copy from Josh's blog, hope you don't mind.

Out of all those images you chose that!? It doesn't visually display at all the difference.

Your text towards the end is also incorrect. There are many images to be found on the 'net which are large enough to print.

Google > Images > then select "Large" only.

Your pictures don’t show near enough contrast as some of the others show.

Also, just because you name an .eps or .ai does not mean a complete vector is contained in it. I can make a total raster image and save it as an .ai or .eps and it’s still gonna be wrong.

I believe you’re getting too wordy and most people will just ignore and hit send anyway.

Agreed. I find that more & more people now-a-days have the attention span of a gnat. This is arguably due to the internet, but that's another topic.

The technical terms mean very little to most people. A visual is usually the best solution. As the others have mentioned there is not enough contrast on your 2 cars. Create an even worse version for the raster image (downsample).

Also if you include samples make sure to also go basic. Pick a simple logo for a side by side comparison as others have done. Your car is rather complex for being a vector. Most vectors that are freely available are not this complex or high quality. 9x out of 10 people are grabbing images from a google search and unable to locate the vectors as easily
