Regular Vinyl Cutting From VersaWorks? (No Printing)

I know to select cut only but can it cut any regular EPS file? Could someone please explain the easy way to just run my VPi like a cutter? The workflow etc...

What cutter settings do I need to select?
How do I use cutter settings not software?

It is little different in a print only machine. I have one Que setup for cut files and one for print only files- you bring your cut only file into the print only que (so you get no crop marks), rip it and pull it down into the plotter window at the bottom.

Thanks for the replies.

So if I had a straight eps from a client there is no way to open that file directly and cut? It has to be worked on in another program first?

If the customer designed it as a cut file, it may have cut lines versaworks doesn't recognize. If you go edit->queue A(orB)settings->cut tab, There is a buttion for "cut all paths" which opens up cut paths from other design programs to be picked up. Just look at the preview first, it may have picked up guide lines or other things you dont want cut.

If you use Corel Draw, add a color to your palette and make it a spot color. Choose any color you want, generally I use Pink because it's a color I never use in a job.
Name the color "CutContour" exactly like that.

Then on your object, right click to make the outline CutContour, import into Versaworks and it will see it and just do cut only.

Roland CutStudio will see your EPS file already as vector and you don't need CutContour. Just design, export, import and cut.
