Removing Guides?

How on earth do these guides work. Sometimes I can delete them but many times on older files they seem locked and I can't move them or delete them...Whats the secret here?

to delete them you just select them and hit delete, or backspace, but to hide them there is the option under the "view" tab on the root menu under "show"

check in layers, maybe they are locked or on some other pagel- layer which cannot be edited

Right click on the guides and you will see the option to unlock the guides or lock them
