Removing paint from soft side trailer

We are looking at a box truck that has one side that's a soft side trailer. It's a Roland Curtain soft side. The company had someone paint their name on the side, professionally. It's very well done. Best I can tell is the curtains are PVC. Is there a way to remove the existing name? The company is selling the truck and wants to get rid of the name prior to selling. I know I've seen tips on removing hand painted letters from vehicles, but I don't know if that technique works here or not.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Steve

Letting removal

Steve, You can try easy off oven cleaner on a small spot to see how that works. I've used that many times on moving old lettering. You'll have to give it a few minutes to work.

Regards,
Jack

Easy off oven cleaner on soft PVC? I can see some melting in your future....Easy off work sometimes on stuff like vehicle lettering, but PVC I wouldn't try.

most of the soft side trailers here are lettered with a vinyl ink and it can be removed with lacquer thinner,...but it would seem to be cheaper to just replace the soft side vinyl cover than it would be to remove the lettering

Thanks for the input, I'll take a look at it in detail soon and try a few things. If they don't work, I'll tell them to paint it or buy new sides.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the tip Roundman, the lacquer thinner worked perfectly. Wasn't the easiest job I ever did, but wasn't the hardest either.

I don't know what kind of paint they used, but it's nice stuff. Sticks like glue and you can bend it all around and it never seems to crack. Someone did a darn good job when they painted it. I don't know who, but they did a good job. It's all a distant memory now, it's a white side again.

Thanks again for the help!
