Replacing Dampers in ValueJet Printer

Anybody ever replace the dampers in their ValueJet?

I've got a VJ-1204. Had it for five years but have not replaced the dampers. Surprised to see a recomendation to change these every year (Fellers Catalog).

Any suggestions??

Thanks.

Thanks FatCat - I've seen that video. I was thinking the same thing.

Not sure if I should wait for problems to start or change the dampers now. Seems like plugged dampers would cause the pump to work harder perhaps causing damage.

I wonder what size that syringe and connector tube is...kits available??

Any help out there?

I noticed he mentioned that most techs just run a couple cleaning cycles to fill the damper. He used a syringe to save wear on the pump.

I don't think there would be much wear on the pumps just to run a couple cleaning cycles. I'd rather do that then risk damaging the bottom of the new dampers with an hose that might not be the exact size needed.
