Reverse roll on takeup reel?

OK I have the dancer style take up reel on my Roland ecosol printer/cutter. Does anyone run the takeup in reverse direction so the vinyl will roll with the liner to the outside? The reason I am considering this is so I can roll it out on my table afterwards to gas out. it is a PITA to try and roll it out vinyl side up when rolled vinyl side out.

Just wondering if anyone has had a problem running it this way. I know wrapped in reverse over time it would probably pucker but for the short amount of time it shoulden't be an issue. I wouldn't think it would be a big deal but it is one of those You don't know what you don't know things and there may be a legitimate reason why you shouldn't do this.

Thanks Dave.

Well, the common prevailing theme here is to never let your prints out-gas or dry up right. Mainly because of particle contamination. So going through all the trouble of winding your prints in reverse, which I'd never do for ink contact reasons, many guys on here use a modified home depot bucket or milk crates with fans underneath to facilitate faster drying / outgassing while being able to take them directly off the printer, and take up minimal shop space.

Here's at least one thread on the matter: http://www.signs101.com/forums/show...-print-drying-buckets&highlight=Drying Prints

i ALWAYS take-up my prints with paper backing facing-outward. Besides ease of rolling out onto a table, it is also nice to know that my recently printed faces have no way of touching anything but the backing of what was printed before it. Also, for short-run lamination, it makes it a heck of a lot easier for me to hold the roll with one hand while I manipulate the laminator with the other, and not have to worry about fingerprints/smudges as I run it.

You lost me on this one.
Ink contacting what?
With Guam being close to the equator we have to wind up our rolls clockwise to counter the earth's rotational spin........

We take-up the prints with the backing on the outside if it need to be laminated - it keeps the print dust & fingerprint free when laminating.
