RGB Photos in Illustrator

Does anybody know if there's a setting to open photos and any other files as CMYK automatically in Illustrator? I work with photos a lot and am forever opening them and changing the color mode to CMYK before cutting and pasting into the artwork I'm working on. Any help appreciated.

Drag and drop a photo directly into the CMYK document you're working on, then click the "Embed" button. It will automatically convert to CMYK when you click Embed. Prior to that, it's a linked object so it remains RGB because the file it's linked to is RGB.
