We did have signs like that in PA on the turnpike they are now more just in the north if I remember. The funny thing is you could ask to see the speed gun or vas car device that clocked you.

We had a couple around here too on the straight stretches.
Usually have a couple lines painted on the highway about a mile apart, so they
can time your speed that way.
