Rip software question.

I am getting a used Versacamm printer and it is coming with the following software,

1. Color rip, VersaWorks, Wasatach soft rip and Flexi 8.1

Being new to using the Versacamm printer which software would you use.

I use CorelDraw 12 for all of my design work and it's all done in vector.

Just not sure which one would work best.

Please let me know what you would use and why.

Thanks Jim

I have flexi and VersaWorks and my colors are more consistant with VersaWorks. As far as Corel, I have always used flexi so I really can't help there. Hope you have as good of luck with your printer as I have with mine.

I use all Adobe products with VersaWorks and have had very good luck with output and colors matching. If you decide to use VersaWorks, I have found that for me, the profile "PGVP" works the best for pretty much everything that I do.

What printer are you getting? The older printers use ColorRip and it costs to upgrade to use the Versaworks ($1,000 and up depending on the printer).
Most of our customers use Versaworks, very few use Wasatach soft rip, Flexi 8.1 and CorelDraw users design in the program and Versaworks to Rip.

We use Corel x3 and versaworks. No problems. It is all in the profiles, once you know what to print on with what profiles colors are pretty close.

I couldn't agree with Mosh anymore. It's all in the profiles. I have customer's that use Flexi, Onyx, calibrate their monitors with Eye Ones and they are NEVER satisfied. I have a huge account that simply follows the right steps in choosing profiles with designs created in Adobe and there's never an issue.

Sometimes less is more.

Profiles

I think I need to learn more about how to use profiles.

Any good books or just trial and error learning?

Since everything I design is with CorelDraw 12 I will use VersaWorks for the rip.

I use Pantone solid colors in just about about all the designs.

I must admit that when it comes to color profiles I am new and need to learn quick.

All of the designs I create will be used outdoors.

Thanks for all the great help. Jim
