Rockhopper 2 head current overload

I am having a problem with our Mutoh Rockhopper 2.
We had a problem with the black drying out so eventually bit the bullet and paid out for a new head from Digiprint Supplies.
An engineer was called out to replace to head for us and the machine worked perfectly for a couple of days until suddenly we had a head current overload error at the end of every print job.
We replaced all the small ribbon cables but the error still occurs,
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Hi Randya,

The printer will print the job ( any size ) and when it finishes and the head makes its way back to the capping station it will reach it and then stop, the screen will go dark and all the lights will flash with a "SYSTEM ERROR E075 Head OverCurrent" displaying. The machine needs to be switched off and back on again then it is ok,

Thanks for your help,

Typically this is head cables, cr cables, print head or motherboard.
If it prints and then errors, sounds more like the head.

Make sure you have clean power going to the printer.
I would recheck all the cables, also check the home sensor, encoder strip, memory.

I am having the same trouble, stupid as i was. Loosening a head, then it came to my mind that i should turn the printer off, ofcorse this lead to that the printheads wanted to go to home possition and ripped off the cable to the head i loosend, i was only going to replace some O-rings.
Now i get the same error E075. I have ordered some new cables but i expect it to take some time before it arrives. Could you tell what the problem was in your situation if you get the answer?

EDIT:
The cable only got a little bent and wrapped so i tought it looked fine so i just putted it back into the head.
I can print, but get the error message when i do the nozzle check but it seems to print all colors and ALOT of yellow all over.

The problem is the fuser i think!

I dont think you have a head or cable problem. I think is the fuser that is in board that gave you the problem. The board stops the printing to save the head from damage. There are twice more fuser the printer head (if you have 4 heads you have 8 fuser, 2 fuser for each color, because one head have 2 color cyan with magenta, black with yellow). The fuser are positioned in the mainboard. they are positioned the oposite side of you head that gives you the error. So if the it the first head in the left you have to change both fusers (to be secure) in the right. It is a bit dificult in the first time because you have to remove the cover plastics of the printer the display panel, some fans and cables etc. Dont use magnetic screw when you are working over the mainboard or you will damage it. If you find a manual its very easy. i think the cost of one fuser is about 7-10 USD.

Check the fuser in the mainboard

There may be different problems but hearing that your printer still prints I think that you have to check the fusers on the mainboard. It's not a simple operation for the first time but you can do it carefully. The are 2 fusers for each head (1 for each color) on the mainboard that prevent the damage of mainboard so you have to change them. They are positioned the oposite side your head are. You have to measure them one by one and to be sure change them both for one head. Don't use magnetic screw drive to operate on the mainboard or you may damage the mainboard doing so. You need to heve a service manual to tell you how to arrive to the mainbord or you can do it step by step by taking notes of what you have unpluged and taking pictures to remember what you have done so you can plug them back together. But if you have a specialised mutoh technician you can call them and tell them you think. If you do it by yourself you will see that all the cables have diferent heads from one another so you cant mistake by plugin the wrong ones.
Hoped it helpd a bit :glasses:

The machine seems to have fixed itself !
We moved the printer into a bigger room next door and somehow the problem seems to have gone away. I think that one of the ribbon cables may not have been seated properly
