Roland adding printer vs risks

I was wondering what people's thoughts were on the time it takes to start a new business with the Roland VS-540i? I currently just started doing laser engraving this year and already have a website generating sales. It's not much but a decent start so far. My question I am trying to figure out is if I should buy a Roland now or later. I found and awesome deal in a printer (2.5y old) taking over someone's exisiting lease at $600 a month for next two years. This would put a lot of strain on my living but I would get the printer for $16,000 (CDN). I got a quote on a new printer and it worked out to about $27,000 (CDN).

What I am trying to figure out is how fast I can get to the point of making 600 a month. Spending this much a month would cause me to live pay check to pay check on edge with my current debt load.

Stick with the laser engraving. BIL's brother owns a laser engraving company out in the "pickers" of the north woods. They added a third Epilog early this year and are looking at adding a fourth unit to keep up. With only two lasers they were grossing $400K a year.

With over 2 years the machine is off warranty, not a deal breaker but a point to note. If you are going to consider ANY used machine, best see it operate in person. I've come across those people that have a print from that machine they did months ago to send to you, and the printer sat in a warehouse unplugged and dying.

Another thing is if the $600 a month might be tight for you what about other expenses? Not trying to turn you off but after you get the printer you need to buy a laminator, materials and inks. Like already mentioned probably better off subbing out till you get a higher demand to cover your costs

I have a 150w 3 x 4' laser coming now- I would love to know more about what these people are using for lasers (power wise).
Also if they have a website. Thanks Gene

I just ordered 4- 6 liter cases of ink... $2400. But that makes us a lot of money.
