Roland CX500 and Wndows 8 problem

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble getting Flexi to see my CX500 cutter. Roland doesn't support the Cx500 with Win8, but I found out the GX500 driver will work. Windows is saying the Driver isn't compatable with 64bit, but I know the driver IS for Win8 64bit! Wondering if anyone has any insight. The cutter is USB connected. Running FlexiCloud, Windows 8 Pro.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Yukon

this seems to be a problem.........ALL THE TIME... you have "older" equipment.....and the new OPERATING SYSTEMS dont support them!!!!
i just moved to WIN 7 from XP...........because of these problems.......I DIDNT WANT)))
WHEN I WENT TO WIN 7....................i purchased a new SSD hard drive. kept my XP hard drive intact..........and moved it to the slave position on the IDE cable. the SSD hard drive is a SATA connection and i went into the BIOS and made it the PRIMARY BOOT DRIVE...
in this configuration.... i CAN.......if i need to, change from the SSD BOOT to the IDE drive......and still boot from either........and all the plotters/prints work in XP!!!!
with WIN 7, i cant run my CANON U656 scanner...........NO DRIVERS/SUPPORT FOR IT!!!! also when i loaded WIN7 PRO....... i did it as a 32 BIT.
THERE IS NOTHING ........we do in this business that 64 BIT does anything better. EXCEPT MAKE YOU BUY NEWER EQUIPMENT))))
iam sure you can find an older laptop(with XP) for little money.............that will run that plotter easily.

Thanks Old Paint, I TOTALLY agree with all you said!

It's frustrating, I like Win8, I just moved my best PC and Printer from my home office to my shop to join the Roland CX500 plotter. (expanded our shop space to get everything in one location) I really want to use one computer for both the printer and cutter. Meantime, I've set up my 2nd best system next to the cutter until I figure out a fix. I'm NOT buying a new cutter! This Roland's a workhorse (my last Roland lasted 16yrs :)

It's a vicious circle of software/hardware playing catch-up...

Ugh...

I have a dedicated pc with xp to operate my CM500
through corel X3 plugin and cut studio.
I don't know if this link will be helpfull for you, I can't understand a lot
due to my poore english, but in the middle of the page it mentions that this
driver is suitable for Windows 8 and supports CX series aswell, so it might make your CX 500 work.
Have a look, I'm sure you will understand better than me...

By the way, does your cutter support cropmark reading/cutting
if the lenght of the page is bigger than 150 cm?
I use Cut studio to cut outlined prints but it only accepts that lenght
(150 cm is aprox 60 inches)

I run a CX24 on a windows 8 32bit pc and cut directly from illustrator. When I upgraded my pc to a 64bit, I tried everything I could think of to get this cutter to work on this platform. Tried the GX24 drivers but to no avail. Tried using different software with existing drivers, set up the cutter as a printer (as i had previously on a 32bit) and in the end I accepted it just wasn't possible. I do know that Roland didn't write new drivers to support a 64bit platform for these older cutters, so I ended up with an old xp machine to run the cutter alone.
The old CX cutters just aren't compatible with the 64bit architecture. Unless someone has been able to make this work. If so, please share....

AS I HAVE STATED......... in many of my posts.............
64 BIT OPERATING SYSTEM.................DOES NOTHING FOR THIS LINE OF WORK!!!!!!!
unless you have ALL 2014 EQUIPMENT.........get a PC, load a hard drive with WIN 7 32 BIT corel draw X3, 4, ,5 ,6..........and keep it for CUTTING from older plotters!!!!!
