Roland GR-540 cutter paired with a non-roland printer possible?

I currently have a GR-540 cutter and I’m planning to buy another print that’s a different brand. Is this possible to pair the cutter with a different brand of printer? If yes, how do I do so?

cheers!

You'll just need to make sure that the RIP software that you're planning on using supports both machines. Look at the drivers list in your software to see if it lists the GR-540. This becomes more important if you're doing print/cut registration as the 2 way communication is very dependant on a good driver.
Roland has it's own plotter language and if it's not specifically listed, I wouldn't count on it working. The GR2 however speaks HPGL, so it will prove to be more compatible.
