Roland GX 300 or Summa D75 ?

I'm in need of another plotter. It can't be bigger than 36 in or smaller than 30.
I heard these size cutters are kind of fading out right now, but their perfect sizes for my particular present needs.

I'm weighing out these two cutters. A new Summa D75 for 2,500. or a new Roland GX 300 for the sale price of 3000. I know Summa's got tracking, but the GX300 is no slouch on tracking either , and it cuts more kinds materials and has other very good features. If you got a GX. Please , kick it back. Which one do you vote for for the money? Thanks for sharing .....

i own a CX-300, same machine older version as GX-300. i have only owned ROLANDS......since 1992. i prefer them as the cut from COREL...... without any added programs. i had a PNC-1000, (2)PNC-1100 & got a deal on this CX-300 8-9 years ago.........i love it. biggest thing with it its quiet!!!!!
tracking is good, YOU just need to load the vinyl the right way for your machine. i have run 60-70 feet of vinyl on one load........and it ran about a 1/4 of an inch skew.

Do you want to do contour cutting now or in the near future? If yes, choose the Summa: it has the much better system for that job.

I have no idea which media can be cut by a GX300, but not by a summa.

I love Summa also- but if you have a Roland 30" printer- the GX makes it seamless.

Of course I am biased, but the Summa has advantages pretty much across the board. Cutting accuracy is 6 times better, cutting speed is 11 ips faster, cutting force is 50 grams more, and the overall reliability of the optical sensor used for contour cutting is significantly better. We also include unlimited toll-free technical support and a 2 year warranty(the GX only includes a 1 year last I checked).

The Roland GX 300 cuts window tint I think, and the Summa doesn't. I have no current plans to window tint, but who knows , down the line.
Rolands are great machines, but in 2004 I bought a new Roland camm 1 cx 24 and 2 or 3 years later Vista came out, and of course my xp took a dump, that very week. Roland stopped making drivers for the cx, and left me abandoned . What a hassle that was, having to run with weak xp's.
I haven't heard of Summa doing that. ... Have they????

Clarification

The D75-R actually has more cutting force than the Roland and can certainly cut window tint. It can also cut clear bra(PPF) if you needed/wanted to cut that as well. Let's put it this way, there's nothing the Roland can cut that the D75-R cannot, period. I am not sure why anyone that has used both machines would say that, other than to mislead you.

Here's a quick comparison for anyone who may be considering the Roland and Summa -

Max Cutting Force:
Roland GX = 350 grams
SummaCut = 400 grams

Max Cutting Thickness:
Roland GX = 20 mil(0.020")
SummaCut = 30 mil(0.030")

Max Cutting Speed:
Roland GX = 33 in/sec
SummaCut = 44 in/sec

Max Tracking Length:
Roland GX = 20 feet
SummaCut = 164 feet

Repeatability(cutting accuracy over distance):
Roland GX = no guaranteed repeatability
SummaCut = 26 feet within +/-0.004"

So, in summary the SummaCut will cut faster, with better accuracy, over longer distances, through thicker materials than the Roland GX.
