Roland PC-12

Hi all. Just wanted some info. I am looking at getting a small printer to take care of a couple of needs:

1. To print small rear window decals (white print on clear vinyl)
2. To print some bottle labels for some chemicals that we sell (4 spot process on white vinyl)

Here's my situation. I have been offered a Roland PC-12 for $1500 AUD, but every report I read on them is negative, including per sq ft cost to print. Is this the printer for me or should I look else where. We do not need to print a large quantity so I am looking for a cheap solution. I'm sick of shelling over thousands every time we need to re print the stickers. Please help

Are you serious or are you kidding?

Your cheap solution will become the opposite of your expectations! Stick with doing what you do best and allow a professional printer to handle your needs. Your cost of labels and decals should be figured into your cost of goods or your marketing budget. If it is costing you thousands to get your items printed in low qty you need to find a new printer... going into the thermal printing business is not a cheap solution especially with a Roland PC-12 or 600. Summa or Edge is much better but it WILL be expensive to "get into" and it is much more expensive to print per sq ft than with an ink jet.

Thanks for the reply. When I say small qty I'm talking 10,000 stickers per run, but I only print these once a year. There are three different types, plus I do about 2000 product labels a year as well. I only asked because I don't like out sourcing things I could possibly do myself.

I currently use both a thermal resin printer and an inkjet printer but with quantitys such as those I would outsourse those from a wholesale screenprinter, you just might find them to be cheaper in the long run.

printing white is difficult

Hi,
I have a PC60 and have a difficult time printing white onto clear. It's splotchy and doesn't adhere well. I believe the Edge does a much better job. Not sure about the Summa.

Hope that helps...
