Reply back to this thread, should you get Peck2. I think it won't work, unless you are connected to the internet... i.e. Roland servers. I suspect this is how they prevent owner repair work... but maybe I'm wrong...

I know this video mine is VG540 hence not working for me

It works with all Rolands. With the latest models(VG3, SG3) , you need a number to enter the system switch mode.
Call a certified technician...

Some things can be accessed in Support mode that are in Service Mode.

Service Mode requires hardware key I believe these days.
"To access the service mode, you will need the Peck2 tool and a current credentialed service login.
The access credentials need to be updated every 30 days."

Support mode key works for me though on FW 2.60
