Roland Pnc960 Camm-1

I had recently bought a used plotter off from a friend, now the only thing that was wrong with it was the main board. SO I replaced the main board assembly but now when I plug it in the "Setup" led light blinks and the plotter won't work. Does anybody know how to fix this.

I heard that you have to hit some buttons in a certain sequence to reset it or somthing like that.

Any help is appreciated.

Also I am running windows XP, does anyone know which Roland driver to use that will work.

You'd have a better chance of response from those in the know if you go over to the newbie forum, tell us a little about yourself and what you do, and Then come here with these questions!!!

Well, I paid $350 for the Board but now I'm kicking myself in the rear for not purchasing a new cutter all together. When I turn it on I have no vinyl in the machine and the "Setup" led light blinks. I don't know what to do and I'm already $350 down. Ehh maybe I'll sell it for parts if I don't figure out how to fix it.

I would hope that being a fellow human being with a problem let alone some who is in the graphics community would be enough for most people to pitch in and help out and not tell them to go to the newbie forum first and then come here and ask a question. What is this?? an aol chat room?? ASL??

Half the time one never knows who they're dealing with. People who just buy a plotter, join and jump straight in wanting to pick for answers generally get ignored/overlooked.

Don't take it to heart, just the way the real world is!

I think I remember it has something to do with the manual pin set up on the right hand of the cutter. There has been a previous discussion on that in the forum. Do a search. Are you using it with a serial or parallel port? Mine never worked with windows XP. I run it under Win98. You can download the drivers from Roland's site, mainly to use them with Corel. But, drivers included with signmaking software are better.

When vinyl is put thru nothing happens, still cant do any other function. The Setup light just keeps blinking. I am using a parallel port. I heard that the main board assembly insn't plug n play, that you have to hit some buttons in a certain sequence to kinda reset it but have no Idea as to which buttons.

By the way,
I am a Graphic Designer in the Graphics business have been using roland camm cutters for quite a long time at work. Trying to get a side biz started that was the whole reason of me buying the roland pnc960.:cool:

I got it to work. I went to a Roland Forum and got pretty much what I was looking for. Turns out when you replace the main board assembly on the PNC960 you have to initialize the EEROM. For anyone having this problem here is how to initialize the EEROM.

To initialize the EEROM, you can do the following:
1. Turn on the machine while holding down the Left arrow, Right arrow and Orgin Set buttons.
2. The lights on the control panel will begin to blink alternately, release the keys.
3. Press the SETUP key. If the light goes solid, then the machine is ready. If blinking again, the EEROM will need to be replaced.

Funny thing is that I was already doing a trade for another cutter because I thought this one was broken. I was gonna trade my xbox360 w/games n all.

Now I get to keep my xbox:smile:
