Need Help Roland RE-640 Printing Issue on Banners

Hi have a huge issue this morning suspecting need a new encorder is this correct?
See attached images.

See images the prints jumping a lot tried it with various media still same issue.

DIY Printer Fixing Guide
That's a dirty or damaged encoder strip for sure. Try cleaning it with some isopropyl alcohol and take a nice look to see if there are any damaged spots. If it looks perfectly clean and still gives you this type of print, you probably need to replace it and/or the sensor that reads it.
