I have an SC 540, very similar printer (one model year older i think) and this has happened to me a couple of times, and it was just as simple as changing the ink cartridge! On my printer I have to keep an eye on the ink levels because it doesn't warn me went they are low. Might not be your issue, but worth a try. :)

I have the same model printer. I have had this happen to me twice. Both times I let it set for several days without using it. Each time I had to replace the capping station. Check your ink levels and capping station for the black. When I checked mine at firs look they appeared fine, but then I ran a cleaning swab around it and found it was dry. Replacing capping station and a thorough cleaning will hopefully solve your problem.
