Roland soljet 545ex help! Experts needed

I have a Roland soljet 545ex that I purchased used that wasn't took care of... I have gotten all the heads firing now (had to buy one head) after having been sitting for 6 months unplugged. Printer has low hours and heads were about a year old. My problem is that one side of my light magenta head wont print at all. Of course i've narrowed it down to dampers, head, cables, or board? Here is where i'm at...
1. I have pulled ink through the heads with a syringe so I know there ink in the head...I have changed damper and put a new data cable on that side of the head.. Tried four different data cables there ?... Still Nothing?
2. Moved Light cyan head to light magenta slot and light magenta to light cyan (swapped heads)..Still same side of light cyan not printing anything but head I moved light magenta fires 100%...So I know it isn't a head.
3. Replace the big data cable that goes from the head board to the print carriage board.. Still Nothing?
4. Put in new print carriage board... Still Nothing?
5 Checked the 3 fuses on head board....All are ok
6. Metered all the big back transistors on the head board....All seem to be reading the same, and appear to be ok...

Am I missing a transistor or something? I don't have the 2k for a tech to look at it. If anybody can help me figure tis out I would really appreciate it..I'll even dance a your wedding..
Thanks guys

Man I sure wish I could help you. I have the same machine I purchased used and it has been a work horse for me and was well taken care of. I am not sure how far away a service tech is from you, but if there isn't one any closer, call Ryan at Allsquare in Greenville S.C. Not sure what he would charge you, but when I looked into having his services here for me I would have had him on site (4 hours away) for the day (8 hours) for $600 or so. He would be well worth your investment to get that machine running top notch again.

As long as you have ruled out ink flow, the transistors are the most likely culprit. Transistors do not test like fuses or other easier components so it is harder to find. The fact that you switched head and it did the same thing in the same channel means the signal coming from the head board is not making it to that channel. The transistors make the signal. If the fuse was blown, both channels would go out.

Any idea which transistor to check with a meter reader? How should I trouble shoot this? Thanks VanderJ

Sc545ex troubles

Hello, here's a few comments based on my experience getting 2 of those machines going last year. First get a service manual if you don't already have one. Cheap downloads on eBay I might be able to locate my pdf copy and email it to you. There is a company on eBay that will repair the head board for a flat $225 and will even repair it second time at n/c if first repairs didn't hold. I ended up fixing my own as I had the proper tools and 35+ years exp. As electronics tech. If one side of head is not printing but fuses aren't blown most likely transistor has opened not shorted as well as possible resistor value changed, both problems existed on my boards. Most important is that you power machine down completely including pulling a.c. before disconnecting or moving any head cables or you will take out more parts/fuses on the head board, very sensitive. Parts are readily available, way less expensive if you search around online using generic transistor numbers. Hope this has been somewhat helpful without sounding like a smart a**.....good luck, great built like tank machines for everyday printing.

thanks for the info...if a transistor is open would it read on a meter gauge? whats resistor value? Would that just be a transistor change on the board to fix both of those problems? Any idea which transistor I should specifically look at Maybe the one behind the 3 fuses)? I checked all the ones big ones on the board and they all seem to be reading fine? Sorry if these are stupid questions...just trying to understand.. Thank You so much Jamco
