Roland SP 540 help

Have a Roland SP 540 versa camm and tried a different kind of ink (Solaris Ink) and for some reason it didnt tell me when it was out of black ink and ran till it was completely out. Replaced with new cartridge and I cannot get the black to feed through. I have printed a large black box and i get nothing. Any suggestions on how to get my black ink to feed back through the lines.

While I am asking might as well throw this in. What "angle" of cutting blade should i use and how much "pressure" for 2.5 mil vinyl with 2.5 mil laminate on it. Just cant seem to get good clean cuts on sharp corners.

Fastest way for the ink is to get a syringe and draw the ink through the lines.

Or, look in the manual and follow the steps for filling the machine.

Try a 60 degree blade.

manual has nothing if it ran all the way out of the lines, all it pretty much says is when it beeps to let you know its out of ink to pop a new cartridge in.

I have been using the Solaris Ink also. I am happy with the color but I had a cart do that to me too. They need to get that figured out. You will need to get you a syringe and connect it to the line that goes into the pump. Draw ink until you get it coming into the syringe.

I have run a SP540 for 3.5 years and have never got it to cut like I would like. If you figure it out let me know.

Are you sure it's out of ink ?

I had my overflow bottle fill up and caused the same problem
Once I emptied it, black started printing

I also find that the Solaris gives great color but i have had numerous problems with the chips on them. They just don't read all the time.

I will keep messing around with the cutting i guess and let you know if i come up with anything.

I am positive its was out of ink, when i pulled out the cartridge it was sucked dry for every last drop. I will empty my bottle though just to make sure but i know its only 1/3 full. Willing to try anything at this point.

SP540- We've used for several years now, and always have problems getting sharp lines to cut---always have to finish most points with razor blade by hand. Let me know if you find a solution.

Roland SP series (SP300, SP540) does not require a chip to run unlike VP. The OEM chip tells cartridge when to stop; not to start printing. The aftermarket chip probably does not do that since i dont know the source where that one came from.
