Roland SP-540V banding

Having major banding issues with a Roland SP-540V....second owner. The rest of the details are below:

Printer connection: Router connection
Software: Roland Versaworks
Printing material: Arlon 4600lx
Media profile: Generic vinyl II with the temperature bumped up 7 degrees (was printing amazing)

Nature of problem: printed four gorgeous prints yesterday and than fell on its face, no warning, no slight banding. Have had issues in the past with the "carriage disconnect error" relating to the cleanliness of the encoding strip. I have ordered an anti static kit but it is not installed yet. It is banding to the point of printing two trim marks....test print is ok (need to work on the black channels but everything else looks pretty good. Cable tension feels right, the only thing that has changed from when I was printing yesterday was a brand new 150' roll of media but I did try messing with the vacuum pressure as well with no help. I have reset the connection a couple of times....reimported the file....cleaned out my job queue....cleaned the encoding strip....
I am at a loss here. Of course it would happen on some last minute campaign signs and before a big run of dibond signs.... The middle print just above the test print is actually a print where it printed correctly for 15 passes or so for whatever reason before it was screwy.
