Roland SP540V Photo Settings

Hi All,

I'm currently printing a lot of photos on canvas and photo paper and wondering what setting is best for photos. I've experimented with everything but the colour could still improve a lot. I've gone with Max Impact as I do with all of my vinyl prints, and although it's the best the photos still just don't seem right. I never have any problems with colours printing my usual vector graphics for signs etc. Any help greatly appreciated.

it isnt easy to get perfect skin tones out of these printers. I go to photo printing places to print photos of people.

We do photo enlargements on 4mil vinyl. Much easier time getting the colors right.

We do some high end printing and laminating with our SP540. I wish I could show you the work our printer knocks out on a regular basis, but the prints are for prototypes and not for public viewing. They are absolutely beautiful and come from a dialed in PDF.

One major thing you must be aware of is file prep. The best printer in the world cannot magically make a lousy file better.

Thanks a lot or your answers, I've never had too much trouble with vinyl, mainly just on this canvas but I''ll have to try the pre press US setting and see how that goes.

I've been using the Pre Press US setting and the skin tones etc have improved but now everything seems too light, like an economy ink setting. I usually use Max Impact so I'm used to the brighter colours, does anybody have any other suggestions to brighten the prints up? Thanks.
