Question Roland VG 640 and SG 540 random blue stripes in print.

Hi all, brand new member here.
I run 2 printers here at my job, listed above. (not my shop, I'm the graphics dept manager) connected via ethernet to a single PC using versaworks.

Both printers, without warning and at random times will print this blue stripe, usually ruining the job, and usually at about the 85% completion stage.
Does anybody else encounter this? The example below is from the SG, the VG does a much shorter one, but same width.
The randomness of the occurence makes it difficult to diagnose. I never know when it will do it so I'll never know why.
My tech is just clueless.

Gotta be Versaworks if it's driving both printers. Try a clean re-install of the software.
I'm getting nags to update, so you could be right. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm also running a GR-640 plotter off the same PC.

Regularly, when a printer prints a pass over a distance with full set of nozzles (as it looks like here), I would guess an electronic problem (often flat cables not connected firmly or damaged), but most of this problems are permanent, not intermittend. Because in your cases two printers are affected with the same issues, I would search for a source of strong magnetic fields around the printers, for example some machines with a powerful, but poorly shielded electro motor, or some of this kind. Could be a garage door opener on the other side of the wall.
