Roland VS-540 - Refurbishing Problems - Magenta

Hi guys,

We’ve been working on refurbishing a Roland VS-540 for three days and have already performed several upgrades and maintenance tasks. Here’s a summary of what’s been done so far:

Maintenance and Repairs Performed:

  1. Lines and Components Cleaned:
    • Flushed all ink lines.
    • Thoroughly cleaned the valve-closing system.
  2. New Components Installed:
    • New printhead installed.
    • Original Mimaki Cap-Top installed (tried three different Cap-Tops).
    • Original pump installed.
    • Replaced magenta seal (from the carriage to the circulation system).
    • Changed all magenta hoses except the main one inside the system.
  3. System Adjustments:
    • Deactivated magenta circulation by directly connecting the hose (due to recurring issues with circulation).
    • Re-routed the magenta line to run via a single hose instead of the Y-connector system.
  4. Testing and Troubleshooting:
    • Adjusted the station position.
    • Tested the system with an original damper for magenta.
    • Switched ink lines (cyan to magenta): Achieved full nozzle test temporarily, but the issue returned after the system was left overnight.
    • Tried using the second magenta line, but the problem persisted.

Get a Roland cap top to start with. Also, the magenta line to changed to a single line isn't the channel that you're having problems with.
Did you put in new dampers when you installed the print head? Did the print head come from Roland?
What do you mean by "adjusting the station position"? The capping station is set at the factory and if you move it, you've likely not got it in the correct spot. There is a flushing position adjustment.
Have you replaced the choke valve tube?
