Roland XC540 going into limited use

we have a new print device and find that our Roland Soljet III XC-540 will see limited use as a printer in the future

what should we do to keep the print heads form drying out/clogging up?
we might never use it for print again, but will be using for cutting prints; can we evacuate the ink and still use it for cut?

Rolands aren't noted for accurate cutting on long runs so using it strictly for that is a non starter IMO. If I were in your shoes I'd sell it and get a Summa cutter. Once and done.

Otherwise keep it inked up and force yourself to use it at least once a week.

I think you can find a better cutter that takes up less space. Also it's a great printer and built like a tank, so let someone else put it to use. I am looking at several different types of printers right now. I was going to put ours on the market for 10k (has the blower and it great shape), if we purchase a new HP 360.

I have seen a couple sell in the 9k-12k range in the last year. That will buy a top of the line cutter, rip software, and plenty of media to make it right back.
