roland XR-640 damper replacement ?

anyone replace dampers in a XR-640?
i need to do it but i opened it up and it's quite a bit different under the hood from our XC and LEJ. wondering if i am better off having the tech do this one?

Did you end up solving this yourself? How did it go?

Have an XR640 and thinking about trying to replace dampers and maybe the head myself if the dampers don't do it. tech can't see me for 2 weeks and I'd like to get running before then.
