Roof Brackets

Does anyone know of a supplier of brackets for mounting signs on a roof?

Every time we have to mount a sign on a roof, we design brackets and have them made. The difficult part is getting the pitch exactly right so the sign is plumb, or making the brackets adjustable, which is much more complicated.

What do you all do when this comes up? Do you custom make each bracket and shim if required or do you make them adjustable?

no, I just set plumb, clamp and drill on-site

We do the same as J Hill. Just make sure you pack a level

that's what sign hacks use as well. We use 2x2x1/4" alum angle bolted with 1/2" bolts or welded.

I guess I'm a hack since I have used slotted angle on more than one occasion.
Also have used steel angle and aluminum angle with the final hole drilled on site.
Then there's the issue of how they get bolted to the roof.
Not doing a lot of these anymore though, since most towns have outlawed roof signs except on mansard roofs.

We usually put a piece of adhesive back roofing membrane under the bracket and either roof tar (from caulk tube) or clear silicone on the penetration then over the head of the fastener.

Good call, we also use the adhesive back rubber on brackets that make contact with concrete
