RS-1151 newbie question

We've been printing posters for many years, but have been outsourcing the mounting onto foamcore, etc. Now the vendor is going away so we decided to bring it in-house

We purchased an RS-1151 and some foam boards with Heat Activated Adhesive.

We print on an HP Z6100 and use primarily the HP Satin Instant-Dry paper. Generally mounted without lamination.

The tech came yesterday to install the laminator and to demo it. On the first mounting demo the print separated into layers and the top layer stuck to the top roller of the laminator.

The tech did not know how to remove the stuck-on layer from the roller and said he would get back to us about it, but he did not think that we would be able to use the hot lam to mount our prints.

Is he full of it? Does anyone have any suggestions? HP says that the paper is rated for lamination, but has no suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

You should not run a print through a heated laminator without laminating it at the same time. The heat made the print stick to the roller. You would need to use 3 mill film top and bottom and laminate and mount at the same time or use the laminator cold and mount adhesive backed media to a non coated board.
