Running CS2 on Windows 7

So I'm upgrading my printer, and low and behold, wouldn't you know they don't run on FireWire anymore, it's USB 2.0, and wouldn't ya know, I had bought my last one right when 2.0 came to be, and my computer has the original USB on it.

So, not that it's not time to upgrade anyway, but I get the printer, forced to get the computer, now I call Adobe cause I'm having trouble de-activating my CS2, and they say, well, we can take care of that here on our end, but you won't be able to install that on Windows 7. Well, they were wrong, because you can do a lot of stuff with Google.

So anyway, I open up Illustrator, and everything kinda seems sluggish, and I get a little popup message that says "A running program isn't compatible with certain visual elements of Windows"...I assume this is the 64 bit thing biting me in the butt? My colors also kinda looked goofy to some extent I thought, and maybe that's just it being dumbed down to work in Windows 7.

I guess my question is...is this going to goof up my color to any extent, and cause any other problems? I am thinking the sluggishness could have just been the file I was working with maybe, and I don't hardly EVER do anything that the colors have to be anymore than just "in that realm" but I'm just wondering what to prepare myself for.

Thoughts?

It really shouldn't change the output color at all as your profiles are still the same. One thing I can suggest is right clicking illustrator and running as an administrator if you haven't done so yet and see if that helps your sluggishness. Also, you can adjust the visual settings in win7 by removing a lot of the effects and stuff like that and run it in performance mode trying to speed things up.

It should not affect how color appears. The translucent start bar and similar visual effects in windows get temporarily shut off.

That said, I run both Illy 10 and CS5, the same color fill will look more vibrant in 10 and more subdued in CS5.

I think maybe it was even something as simple as the dreary colors that came stock with Windows 7. I was so used to the bright blue bar on my windows that I hadn't been used to it yet. Between that and switching to a "glossy" monitor...I think it played tricks on me.
