sandblasting letters into a boulder

can you sand blast a rock/boulder with sandblast mask? and if so are there some recommendations or suggestions from someone more experienced than i?

zmat's correct - also, wouldn't you use garnet instead of sand?

00 sand will work. It's what I use for cemetery lettering where I can not reclaim my media.
