Scissor alternative

I remember seeing a video in the last couple of months where a worker was using a unique tool to cut the backing paper while using the "hinge" method to apply. It wasn't a pair of scissors but looked to me like a plastic handle with a ball shape on the end that was slit that they just pushed through the paper. I can't find the video or the tool. Does anyone know the toll that I'm describing and/or who sells them?

Amazon has them, but you can get them cheaper at Office Depot, Walmart, Kmart, etc. I have seen them on sale for a few bucks each at all of those places in the last year. I stocked up and bought 15 or so.

That's it! Thank you. Do you normally buy them from Amazon or do any local stores carry them?

I got mine on Amazon. I found 12 for 9.99 and free shipping with my prime account. Bought them that way a couple times. Just have to look for the deal.

I have also picked them up at walmart when I was out and realized i didnt have one with me. Walmart here had them at $5 or something like that.

+1 on the Scotch gift wrap cutters, picked one up for $2 after hearing about it on here and have been using it ever since. Just have to be careful if you're slitting something that's thin and/or not laminated, the tip that goes between the backer and material can get caught on the material and poke through. Not a big deal if you catch it, just pull it back a bit and push up and out, but I did ruin one print before not paying attention. The tip caught halfway through and the the material was slit along with the backer from that point on. Seems to catch more often on areas with heavy ink coverage as well. Any of you other guys that use these have any tips on how to keep it from getting caught? I was thinking maybe rubbing a drop of baby oil all over the tip but I have a feeling that's gonna screw with the adhesive on the material.

@ucmj I think he's referring to cutting the backing paper only, although that's a pretty nifty little tool too.
