Seiko print head problem

Hi all,

We have a problem with two of the print head on our Seiko 64s. The D/Magenta has blocked nozels and the D/Cyan seems to block if we don't print in an hour or so. One engineer has referred to this as 'drops out a lot'. Cleaning clears the problem with the D/Cy but not the D/M.

We do leave our heaters on but the printer controls their heat, cooling after printing.

We use genuine inks on the printer.

Might be a faulty pump or clogged damper? Have you soaked the capping station with caping fluid overnight- that doesnt always work but a recommendation seiko always gave me in the past. Have you done a pm kit lately, I just did one, it was costly but well worth it, i still have some minor drop out issues but not as bad as before the update to all the pumps and new capping station.

Please post a nozzle check pattern so I can see how the nozzle failure is distributed. The second piece of info that would be helpful is: does the nozzle pattern change if you performed the test again after a strong cleaning, some nozzles coming back while others dropping out?
IF this is the case then I would suspect a failed O ring in the line connecting the printhead to the damper.

I'll do the test print and post it or could email it. The nozzle pattern does change on the D/C after a strong clean.

We don't have the extra heater on our machine

Hi All, Sorry for not getting back to you all sooner but our problem has now been sorted. It was all because of poor ink. We have now changed to a product from Sun Chem and all our problems have been corrected.

Thank you

Bingo, especially the magentas. Seiko oem ink has had this problem since about August. They'll be glad to charge you a few grand to send calgraph to come fix it though, you'll never get them to admit their oem ink has damaged your machine.
