Shipping printer

We are looking at buying a used Roland vp and had some questions on shipping/traveling with the printer. Any tips or suggestions? We will be traveling over 1000 one way. Just needing to make sure the printer will be safe while getting it back home.

It's better to have two hands than one glove.
It's not so much how far you're moving it, rather it's how you're moving it. Doing it yourself or hiring a moving company or a freight carrier. That and how long the device will be in transit.

If it's a quick trip in the back of a van or pickup truck then lock the carriage in place as well as the ink cartridges, how ever that's done with this particular device, and move it.

If it's a long trip then replace the ink cartridges with cleaning cartridges and do whatever it is you do to fill the entire ink system with cleaning fluid.

If it's a move via commercial carrier, long or short, then all of the above plus wrap the thing top to bottom in moving blankets and cross your fingers. If you don't want to cross your fingers then build a crate for the printer.
