New Guy Sign Install Resources

Looking for any helpful resources for learning how to install outdoor signage (pole, monument, building mounted, LEDs, etc). I recently met with a local sign manufacturer for large outdoor commercial signage and am interested in getting into install. Any helpful resources would be greatly appreciated!

Yep. You're not going to learn what you need to from forums, videos, books, etc. You need to go work for a sign company that installs those particular signs and you need to go hands-on next to others that do it for a living.

What's your current experience level?

Yeah I figured there is a lot to learn. I don’t have any real install experience with outdoor signage.

Need to learn weld/fab as well. Shops that deal with pole mounts will have a certified welder on staff.

Can't forget the insurance either. Not so bad attaching stuff to buildings but once you start putting holes in the ground...yeesh.

Old time sign guy said once you put up a sign you own it. Meaning your responsibility doesn't end when you turn the last screw and go home.

Around here people just wing it. Our city doesn't GaF.
Just Kidding. Like others said, go work with someone that knows what they are doing. Don't rely on guessing with structures. Pay an engineer and go off their figures.

And even the people that are licensed to install don't always get it right.

Saw this this morning.

They have parking spots blocked off but not the sidewalk.

:help

If Corona doesn't get you , falling signs will....

Thanks for all the advice guys. I have a guy that is going to do all of my installs so hopefully he won’t mind me tagging along to learn here and there.
